Nestled in the city of London in central Kentucky is Levi Jackson state park.  It's free to explore this state park and a great place to bring your children.  You can camp at the campground to aleve the worry of a hotel room.  On site is a mini golf course and a pool with a giant rubber ducky for the kids.  There are several playgrounds throughout to entertain the wee ones as well.

If you love history like I do exit out of the park near the pool and turn right.  Less than a mile ahead is the Jackson family graveyard.  You will see the large sign on the left, just before the housing development.  There is a small turnaround but drive carefully as it is a small area.   You will see gravestones from the 1800's.  A few have fallen over but a new marker has been placed at the base.

If you enter the park from US25, the first thing you encounter is the mill.  The curvy river has plenty of waterfowl to entertain the kids.  There are information markers educating about the millstones of the past.  How they created them, the ridges placed on the stones and the way it contributed to the grinding of the wheat and corn.  The path up to the small mill is lined with millstones of the past. You can actually feel the cravings for yourself.  At the mill you can see the water door to let in the river to turn the millstones turbines.  The waterfall to the right of the mill also is a beautiful sight to behold.  Plenty of photographic areas if you need a souvenir of your adventure.  It is Spring so the museum wasn't open but check back later to see the exploration of the past
